According to reports in Zambia, the 28-year-old was signed by the City of Lusaka for the 2008 league season. Matsuo is reportedly excited to play in the Zambian top flight and is currently undergoing pre-season training with the team. He said: "The competition in the team is good but I'm ready for the challenge. The coaches have been very helpful and my team-mates are also supportive." In somewhat a strange turn for Matsuo, who came to Zambia last year as a volunteer with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, he has decided on embarking a football career in the African nation.
