Azimuna ni Dimani – Victor Nyirongo

Azimuna ni Dimani is from Victor’s third album Gentele Koswe. It talks about women who are busy daily making themselves look more beautiful to attract men who are scarce like diamonds. The song is in Nyanja one of the many Zambian languages.

Victor Nyirongo has established himself as one of the Zambia’s prominent male solo artists on the local music scene as a recording and performing artist. He stepped on the scene in 1989 after his Uncle Paul Ngozi, Zambia’s legendary Zamrock guitar maestro, died.

Victor carried on where his uncle left by performing live music in a band called Junior Supestone in Lusaka’s Chibolya compound. In 1990, Victor recorded a 12 inch single Vimbuya Vapamalilo which was a hit and made Victor Nyirongo a household name. This was followed by Zimya, an album of six songs, and Dirty Lizzy, another blockbuster album. A lot of copies were sold in Zambia and Victor held a number of live shows to promote his music. Victor worked closely with a lot of Zambian musicians and in 2002 he produced a third album called Gentele Koswe. This is the album he is now promoting by holding live shows in different places and selling cassettes.

Victor has performed at major concerts and festivals in Zambia and has toured Eastern province performing in hotels, bars, restaurants and concerts. His music receives very good response from neighbouring countries where his music is sold.
